Meet Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity.

 
Mike Williams, a frequent ReStore customer, came into the Collister location recently and asked General Manager Jake Crist if Habitat would be interested in some lumber, plywood, and other building products. When Mike explained that the materials were in New Meadows, Jake asked him to send a photo or two. He needed to determine if and when we could commit the resources to retrieve this donation. When Jake received the photos his first thought was “We’re going to need a bigger truck”.

The BVHfH Board of Trustees has a new look with the recent addition of three new members. Kimber Russell, Diana Telford, and Shirley Naccarato were introduced in September and will begin their first two-year term at the October 21st meeting. Each new member brings a wide range of business and non-profit experience to the board which now numbers eleven.

Take a perfect venue, add generous supporters, spice it up with Goodwood Barbeque and you have another great Evening in the Garden. On Thursday, June 11 FarWest Landscape and Garden Center once again hosted the 13th Annual Evening in their beautiful Garden Center on State Street. Kevin and Brenda Mee the morning stars from 101.9 FM “The Bull” welcomed 200 Habitat supporters and made sure that the evening started off fun and kept moving.

Home dedications are a culminating event for Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers, community partners, and staff come together to celebrate with the Habitat family. This may be the last chance to get your tickets! Now in its 13th year, Evening in the Garden attracts capacity crowds and has sold out ahead of the event for the last 2 years. Only 48 tickets remain which can be purchased individually for $50 or $500 for a table of eight. Table holders receive premier reserved seating, 2 bottles of wine, table favors, and signage.

Mark Anderson, creator and co-host of Food Network shows The Grill Dads and Comfort Food Tour, has offered to host the winning bidder and 7 guests at his home for a grilling class and dinner party. The lucky winner will join Mark in his backyard command center with 5 grills and a wood fired pizza oven, for food, fun, and outdoor grilling education. Date, time and menu will be mutually agreed upon with the auction winner.

Construction is moving right along at Tradewinds subdivision in Meridian! We paused for a while in January to let the professionals from Performance Drywall take care of getting the drywall up, but our volunteers are back at it, installing wood laminate floors and interior painting.

Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity is very pleased to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of a 2019 Habitat-Thrivent Faith Build Grant. This generous grant will build our fourth and final home in the Tradewinds Subdivision. Thrivent Financial is contributing 50% of the total cost of this home and is also engaging the local faith community to assist with funding and a commitment of volunteers to build with Habitat. Construction will begin in June 2019.
